Anti – Cancer Grocery List
I am firm a believer in. “You are what you eat”. In America, “fast food” or processed foods have now become second nature to us all. Many of us live extremely busy lifestyles and the last thing we are thinking about is what we are putting into our bodies. Whether you are running off to work, taking the kids to school, or trying to squeeze in a quick workout, it’s hard to be prepared. In many cases, we don’t even realize that the foods we are eating are full of harmful ingredients and chemicals. By making smart food choices, you can protect your health, feel better, and boost your ability to fight off cancer and other diseases.
Below is a simple list of foods and how to’s to help you stay healthy and become more aware.
Tip #1: American Cancer Society recommends you eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.
Fruits: Avocados, figs, grapefruits, grapes, oranges, lemons, papayas, raspberries, tomatoes
Veggies: Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, kale, mushrooms, sweet potatoes
Tip #2: Cut back on processed foods (foods that have been compromised by the addition of hormones, additives, preservatives, unnatural genetic material, or other chemical or heat treatments that alter or destroy the natural healthy enzymes , fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals).
Tip #3: Buy organic or local foods.
Tip #4: Up your fiber intake. Fiber helps keep your digestive system clean and healthy. Eating a diet high in fiber may help prevent colorectal cancer and other common digestive system cancers.
Tip #5: Cut down on meat.
· Keep the total amount of meat in your diet to no more than fifteen percent of your total calories.
· Eat red meat on occasion.
· Chose leaner meats, such as chicken, fish, or turkey
